  • Modern technologies of jet-grouting

Technology of jet-grouting is a method of strengthening weak or heavily watered soils by pumping high-pressure cement slurry into the well to break the structure of the soil and simultaneously stirring its particles with cement slurry. The result is a ground-cement mass which has predefined improved strength and deformation characteristics. Technology of jet-grouting has a great potential for development and application in various construction industries, such as buildings, roads, bridges and other structures under various geological conditions. The development of jet-grouting technology won't only expand its application, but can improve competitiveness in the construction services market.

  • Overview of energy storage interconnection topologies and its control methods

Currently one of the promising trends in the global energy sector is the introduction of renewable energy sources (RES) into the existing grid. The use of RES can be favourable in autonomous power systems where fuel costs are high. However the stochastic nature of power generation creates a number of difficulties in maintaining the power balance. To solve this problem, it is proposed to connect a hybrid energy storage system (HESS) consisting of a battery and a supercapacitor to the load busbars. The efficiency of such HESS depends mainly on the way of its connection to the grid and the choice of control method. The article gives an overview of the existing mechanisms for controlling the power consumption of HESS.

  • Development of a numerical method for assessing the energy requirements for airborne radars for weather navigation in polar latitudes

A new numerical method for calculating weather conditions has been developed for airborne radar systems for Arctic purposes. Based on the numerical method obtained in the study, software was developed that takes into account various models of electromagnetic wave propagation in various weather conditions. The results of calculations for estimating the detection range of dangerous weather conditions are presented. This assessment indicates that the threshold for detecting adverse weather conditions can be reduced. The basis for lowering the threshold without deteriorating the resulting probabilities of correct detection and false alarm is the fact that the occurrence of cases of false detection is possible only when a certain total extent of difficult weather conditions is reached, which can already be considered dangerous for the flight. The features of the formation of reflected signals from Arctic rain clouds, turbulence over a snowy desert and wind shear are considered. It is shown that all of them are characterized by lower radar reflectivity, therefore the resulting detection ranges are less than those that can be obtained at more southern latitudes, but at the same time they are sufficient for the navigation of UAVs or small aircraft.

  • Analysis of U-Net-Attention and SegGPT neural networks in the problem of crack segmentation in road surface images

This paper examines and compares two neural networks, U-Net-Attention and SegGPT, which use different attention mechanisms to find relationships between different parts of the input and output data. The U-Net-Attention architecture is a dual-layer attention U-Net neural network, an efficient neural network for image segmentation. It has an encoder and decoder, combined connections between layers and connections that pass through hidden layers, which allows information about the local properties of feature maps to be conveyed. To improve the quality of segmentation, the original U-Net architecture includes an attention layer, which helps to enhance the search for the image features we need. The SegGPT model is based on the Visual Transformers architecture and also uses an attention mechanism. Both models focus attention on important aspects of a problem and can be effective in solving a variety of problems. In this work, we compared their work on segmenting cracks in road surface images to further classify the condition of the road surface as a whole. An analysis and conclusions are also made about the possibilities of using architectural transformers to solve a wide range of problems.

  • Simulation of the design activity diversification of innovative enterprise

Improving calculation models of concrete based on experimental data, especially when studying the volumetric stress-strain state, is an urgent task. When calculating the containment shells of nuclear power plants under the influence of beyond design basis accidents, it is absolutely important to take into account the available safety margins of the materials used. Under volumetric loading, due to the work of concrete in cramped conditions, its strength and deformation characteristics improve, which is not sufficiently reflected in the regulatory documentation in force in the Russian Federation. Taking into account the analysis of existing test methods, based on the labor intensity and reliability of the results obtained, the optimal method of testing for volumetric loading was identified. The article contains the results of testing the selected test method, taking into account the improvement of the deformation measurement system. They confirmed the effectiveness of using the proposed methodology from the point of view of data reliability and relatively low labor intensity of work.
