  • Double-contour geodesic shells with pentahedral pyramids

Geodesic domes are self-supporting spatial structures without additional supports. Geodesic lines are used when breakdown geodesic shells into elements. In this area, the development of geometric models of double-contour geodesic shells are performed. The features of these works are the use of trihedral and hexagonal pyramidal structures as the first contour. However, for the formation of such structures, pentahedral pyramids can also be used. The aim of the study is to develop a method, algorithm and software for a double-contour geodesic shell with pentahedral pyramids. To achieve this goal, the principle of duality, methods of analytical geometry in space and programming in the GDL language built into ArchiCAD were applied. As a result, a parametric ArchiCAD object of a two-contour geodesic shell with pentahedral pyramids was developed. It can be used in architectural and structural design of unique buildings.

Keywords: geodesic dome, double-contour geodesic shell, duality principle, parametric ArchiCAD object, the programming language of GDL

  • Visualization of breakings of geodetic domes under blast loads

In design and manufacture recently interest to a solving of problems of fluid-structure interaction  is constantly incremented. MSC.Dytran has opportunities of calculation of fluid-structure interaction. MSC.Dytran has found application in different fields for example in general safety analysis. In this article algorithms of fluid structure interaction , used in MSC.Dytran, are described. Analysis of one-contour geodetic domes under blast loads are described.

  • Translation of geometric models of two-contour geodesic shells

In this paper consideration is given to problem of developing a converter which will enable convert models of geodesic domes from external 3D format to preprocessor Patran format and structural analysis of this geodesic domes. A library of Framework and Visual Basic was used for building the converter.

Keywords: geodesic dome, structural analysis, geometrical models, grammar, the converter, preprocessor/postprocessor

  • Software for stereovisualization of FEM simulating results

The presented work extends the state-of-art of visualization construction simulations in three dimensions (3D). Classical computer graphics methods can be used to instrument construction models to automatically generate dynamic visualizations of any construction models. The visualization problem of FEM analysis is considered. A description is presented of programs of convertation and visualization of results of finite element method analysis of geodesic domes.
